Senna at One
Here's a lowdown on our little girl as she hits the big one year mark...
STATS: 19 lbs, 29 inches, generally wears 12-18 month clothes (smaller pants) and 6-12 month shoes.
SAYS: (you may not understand them all, but we can!) “mama, dada, book, tickle-tickle, button, night-night, hi, bye-bye, beach, eye, ball, box, Joe (character in a book), Bob, Dick (our neighbors!), bunny, clock, cream, broccoli, bread, water, dog, banana, dance, bounce, butterfly, shoes, hat, jeans, Grandpa, Hobbs, balloon, bird, apple, banana” and others I'm forgetting at the moment, plus many animal sounds (lamb, cow, elephant, parrot, lion, more). And she understands many more words and directions. First sentences: “Hi, Joe.” “Bye-bye-, Joe.” (to anyone!). Mom’s favorite Senna words: “buck-boo” for “peekaboo” and "bock-a" for broccoli.
EATS: yams, carrots, avocado (yes, she likes it now, for you blog devotees), rice & millet bread, rice cereal, pears, apples, oatmeal, broccoli, squash, bananas, zucchini, Trader Joe’s O’s, cantaloupe, tofu, soy yogurt (allergic to wheat, maybe tofu?, and we think citrus — lots of rashes, this girl!). And, of course, she drinks the wonderfood, breastmilk, and water.
READS: constantly!! Favorite books are Goodnight, Gorilla; Baby Talk; Animal Talk; Noisy Farm; Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumb; Horns to Toes and In Between; Bird Fly High; Planting a Rainbow; The Going to Bed Book; Goodnight, Moon.
MOVES: fast! Crawls like a rocket, stands on her own with a big smile, walks holding on with one or two hands.
SLEEPS: Regular naptime is now 11:45 and she does a good two hours, sometimes with Mom or Dad for part of it! Regular bedtime is 7 p.m. And wake-up at 6 a.m. on a good day. In between 7 and 6 — don't ask!! (Let's just say she doesn't want to miss a moment of waking time...)
LOVES: the beach, her birds (at her birdfeeder), reading, playing on the bed, playing in the doll bed, playing in her new sandbox, playing with other kids, toys (cloth Noah's Ark, button/zip doll, stacking boxes), her blah-blah cloth doll, making elephant sounds (ba-booooo), being silly with Daddy and Mommy, swinging at the playground, waving at everything, helping mommy with laundry and cooking, visiting the noisy parrots down the street
HATES: getting in her car seat and long car rides (still... sigh....)
PERSONALITY: curious and alert, active yet mellow, silly yet stubborn, smile and laugh that light up the room, wiggly and bouncy, cuddly and sweet, knows what she wants
BIGGEST FANS: Mom and Dad, of course, and a whole lot of others who love her -- what a lucky girl
