Finger Talk! (And More Senna Fun)
While eating lunch at her little table the other day:
Mom: "Senna, would you like a little fork to eat that avocado?"
Sen: "No, I use my finger fork." (And proceeds to eat with her fingers.)
Lying in our bed in the morning:
Sen: (Hand under the covers.) "Mama, I have a present for you!"
Mom: "What is it?!"
Sen: (Pulling out hand.) "It's a finger present!"
Reading a book one afternoon:
Sen: (Putting her finger onto the window on a book page.) "Look, Mommy, him looking out the window!"
Mom: "The finger? What does he see out that window?"
Sen: "Bob and Tina and Shadow and Blondie going for a walk!" (Our neighbors and their dogs, who we often see out our window.)
Mom: "What else does the finger see out that window?"
Sen: "The evening sky. All the beautiful colors."

She also now holds up two fingers (usually successfully) and proudly says, "Two! Like peace!" when asked how old she is. And she is telling us how all her animals will be two as well.
And, by the way, they, too, will have carrot cake for their birthday (her choice, among many fruit options -- carrying on the Meeg and Alex birthday carrot cake tradition). Of course, her carrot cake will not have sugar, or cream cheese, or nuts, or eggs (sigh) -- but I promise it will still be delicious (and, bonus, healthy, too!).

Also, she is obsessed with writing thank you notes! Every day she wants to write one, often to the same people. She dictates to me, very seriously, "Thank you for the present. I love you very much. See you next time!"

Oh, and she is also very into finding "dandelions!!" when walking to the mailbox (or, shall I say dawdling -- I swear it can take an hour there and back!). I think the gardeners spray so much weed killer, we're lucky to find one (poor dandelions). But when we find one it is very exciting! And then she puts it in her pocket to send to Grandma and Pada, who live far away.

Yesterday, she was "water-painting" the house in the backyard. She decided she wanted to paint on Daddy's surf closet door. "I write S-E-N-N-A. Love Daddy," she said as she painted.
