Three Months!
OK, I'm aiming for once-a-month posts at this point, so here's the next installment!
It's been a busy month. Here are a few highlights...
1) Sen & I donate our hair! We each had 10 inches of length to cut off, so we could donate our ponytails to Locks of Love, which goes to wigs for kids with medical hair loss. I also got two 8-inch ponytails for Pantene's Great Lengths, which goes to wigs for women with chemo hair loss.
Here's a glimpse at before, during, and after, with our great hairdresser, Frances (and Sen playing dress-up in her new 'do as well):

2) Mr. Kajitani goes to Washington! Alex got the most impressive photo opp of the year (decade) for sure, but I took a few shots at home, too.
For those of you who missed it, here's Al with the Obamas and the 2009 National Teacher of the Year, Tony Mullen. His students are proud to say their teacher "got second" (and, BTW, is still 2009 California Teacher of the Year!). :)

And, back on the homefront, we were so lucky to have PaDa come stay with us for the first half of the week, and "Auntie Amy" (my dear friend) come for the second half. PaDa and Kal have a similar look, we thinks (though he swears he doesn't see it). Both of our helpers were amazingly great, Dad getting Kallan to sleep in a swaddle and Amy getting him snoozing in the Babyhawk.

Dad got a kick out of the way I put Kallan to sleep: in a Moby wrap, in which he curls up like a little koala and snoozes. I often put on James Taylor and sway with Kal in the Moby, and he is almost always gone by Track 3 (Fire and Rain). I love how Dad got Sen in the background in the pix.

Nana also visited from LA area one morning -- what a sport to let Sen hold on to her hair as she traced her feet!

3) Kallan keeps growing! As of May 15, Kal is just over 16 pounds! He is pushing his way out of 6 month-size clothes!
Here are some shots of him over the past few weeks. Solo, with Sen, with Dad, with local good friends Jen and Nate. The ones with Sen crack me up -- she is having a ball piling him with toys, putting slippers on his hands, and he looks like he's thinking, "seriously??". He can sit propped up on pillows and can grab stuff now, too. He graces us with a great little laugh-squeak now and then, but smiles tons, which is so darn adorable.

4) Senna takes up photography! Here's her first shot with my Nikon -- not bad. You should see the shots she gets with Alex's iPhone. A few are seriously frame-worthy. ;)
